Depends on the time you go (low season etc) and the hotel you wish to stay at.
Sometimes I book the min package & then stay at my choice of accomm (which is not part of a package deal/not contracted by wholesalers) or just book the flight because its cheaper than a min package(usually in school holidays).
Best to compare the figures then decide which is more economical for you.
Usually contracted hotels are cheaper through a package rather than paying airfare then booking them over there.
With hotels that are not contracted you have the option of using a min package then your selected hotel or just book the airfare & then use your selected hotel
