Not everywhere in Bali accepts credit cards, so you will need some cash. If you are American, take US$, if not American, take you own countries currency and exchange cash at one of the money changers. Note, if you see an advertised higher rate at one vs another money changer, usually means they are 'rip off'. Try to change your cash at PT Central Kuta money changers or Kodak shops.
Dont bother getting Rupiah at home as the exchange rate and charges will be much better in Bali, actually charges less and rate higher.
